Creative Play for Disabled Children (The Yard Adventure Centre)

The Yard runs adventure play services for disabled children and their families. The main aim of this project is to increase a range of opportunities for disabled children under 5 to build confidence, self-esteem and reduce social isolation through play.

Be:Longing Arts and Wellbeing Project (SCOREScotland)

Be:Longing is an arts and wellbeing project for young people in the Wester Hailes area of Edinburgh,  dealing with issues of identity, racism, ‘belonging’ and social activism. Participants will learn about their local area, cultural heritage and nature, as well as developing new skills through kayaking and other outdoor sports.

Counselling Practice, Supervisor’s Training  (Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland)

Cruse provides counselling services to the bereaved, regardless of their circumstances. As a host organisation for the University, many Counselling Diploma students serve the community through Cruse and now have the opportunity to broaden skills as supervisors.

The organisation will train 10 supervisors, who will then oversee 20 counsellors providing accessible, community-based bereavement counselling service. Each year these volunteers will support 240 people in local communities in Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian, West Lothian and the Borders. 

Educating for Sustainable Growing (Friends of Starbank Park)

Friends of Starbank Park is a community group that has restored a small council park over the past five years. Schoolchildren can learn about growing various plants and flowers at Starbank Park, and this funding will be used to investigate how non-plastic and recyclable materials are used in the growing processes and introduce young minds to the importance of sustainability.

Blackwards, an Exhibition – Edinburgh University Black Arts Collective (EUBAC)

EUBAC is launching with an exhibition featuring painting, video work, performance, textiles, sculpture and written word of Black artists in Edinburgh. The Collective aims to provide a safe space and community where Black young people can freely create art and further their craft.
