Community Access to Rooms offers local community groups and organisations the opportunity to use University rooms free-of-charge during evenings and weekends. Our rooms can be used for a variety of purposes, including workshops, study groups, meetings, rehearsals, community events and more. Paterson's Land Paterson's Land has a number of classrooms, ranging in size from around 25-60 person capacity. Most of the classrooms are big and airy, with large windows. All of the classrooms feature moveable tables and chairs. Paterson's Land is at the University of Edinburgh's Holyrood Campus, near the Scottish Parliament and Arthur's seat. There is limited public, metered parking near Paterson’s Land; this may be free outside certain hours. The smallest one can seat just over 100 attendees, while the largest space can comfortably seat 400 attendees.Most of the lecture theatres have a large area of empty space at the front of the room, so are particularly suitable for groups looking for more space - Nucleus has been very popular with drama groups.Parking for the Nucleus Building is available on the Thomas Bayes Road in the evenings. Rooms are available across all buildings Monday to Friday, 6pm–9pm. On weekends, Old College is open on Saturdays, 9am–5pm, and Nucleus is open on Saturdays and Sundays, 10am–4pm. Am I eligible to make a booking? Community access to rooms is open to local community groups and not-for-profit organisations with an annual income of less than £1 million. Groups, organisations or events solely aimed at promoting religious or political beliefs are not eligible to book a room. If you are a student organisation or society, please contact EUSA to book a room. Edinburgh University Students' Association When will I hear back about my booking? We aim to respond to your enquiry within five working days and will do our best to accommodate all requests, subject to space availability. Please note that we cannot fulfil requests with less than 48 hours notice. Can I make a recurring booking? Yes, we can accommodate recurring bookings subject to space availability. Do you have availability year-round? Yes, bookings are available all year round. However, we have reduced availability during the summer (May to September), and the University is closed for two weeks over the winter break.Semester dates Are there age restrictions for room bookings? Under-18s are welcome at Nucleus, where the booking is for a group or organisation willing to complete a risk assessment linking to their safeguarding and child protection policies.At the moment we are unable to accommodate under-18s in any of the other buildings. Do you have audio-visual or other equipment available? Yes, if audio-visual equipment is available in a room, you are welcome to use it. However, we cannot guarantee AV equipment in every room, and IT support will not be provided. Visitor WiFi may be available.Visit-Ed Guest WiFi Can I bring food and drink with me?
