The Craigmillar Literacy Trust is an important charity in Edinburgh that supports literacy skills in the Craigmillar. Image Craigmillar Literacy Trust 2023 It has recently celebrated a community grant from the University of Edinburgh’s Community Grant Scheme. The funding was utilised to host an engaging comic book workshop in Craigmillar, featuring two researchers from the University’s BioQuarter, which had enthusiastic participation from the local community. Laptops for literacy Following the workshop, the Trust sought IT assistance from the University, as their aging PC, still running Windows 7, was on its last legs. Not only is the Trust receiving a donated PC, but they are also being provided with laptops for staff and tablets to facilitate future workshops. The upgraded technology will significantly enhance Craigmillar Literacy Trusts ability to deliver services and run programmes effectively. The University is proud to support local charities and build relationships with organisations doing important work across Edinburgh and the wider region. Cultural collaboration The Craigmillar Literacy Trust is now better equipped to continue its valuable work, thanks in part to the support from the University and the community grant. In further exciting news, Craigmillar Literacy Trust is a partner of the Edinburgh Book Festival 2024, and will be running a series of activities for children at the University’s newly rennovated Edinburgh Futures Insititute this summer.
