Public events

We put on a year-round programme of events open to the public. At Doors Open Day in September our buildings are open to explore, and throughout the year we hold public lectures, exhibitions and concerts, masterclasses and festivals.

University Events Calendar

Our main events are generally free, although sometimes you are advised to reserve a ticket. You can also discover which festivals and events we are involved with throughout the year.

Free public lectures

We have a variety of free lecture series, including our Enlightenment Lectures, the Medical Detectives series, Our Changing World cycle and the historic Gifford Lectures.

Exciting challenges

There are lots of exciting challenges you can take part in to help us fundraise for University research, scholarships and projects.

Connecting with business

High profile speakers from the world of business, industry and politics share their expertise and views.

Sustainable futures

Dedicated to creating and sustaining a low-carbon future, our events cover responsible investment, technology and good food.

St Cecilia’s Hall

Our musical instrument museum and concert hall just off the Royal Mile holds lunchtime and evening concerts.
