A team from the University Business School collaborated with students in Edinburgh College of Art to create the publication. It features illustrations of iconic and historic local landmarks such as Arthur’s Seat, Holyrood Palace and the University’s Old College quadrangle.

The Edinburgh in Colour souvenir also features artist biographies and historic accounts of the landmarks depicted.

Charity endeavour

The project was part of a Scotland-wide competition, The Dragon’s Glen, run by charity Children 1st. It challenged aspiring entrepreneurs to pitch ideas that would turn an initial investment of £500 into more than £5,000 profit.

The Edinburgh students raised more than £5,000 for charity Children 1st, Scotland’s National Children’s Charity. The team competed with groups from SkyScanner, Deloitte and the University of St Andrews, and this year’s competition raised more than £75,000.

Recognition

The University of Edinburgh group was named ‘most innovative’ at an awards ceremony for the charity’s Dragon’s Glen challenge.

We are really pleased to have been recognised by Children 1st, and over the moon we’ve been able to raise more than £5,000 with our idea. The support from fellow students, the local community, the Business School, Edinburgh College of Art and right across the University has been fantastic. It’s been a great experience to be part of the competition, and a privilege to be able to support the valuable work of the charity with children across Scotland.
