Get involved in Volunteers' Week 2021

Volunteers’ Week 2021 is taking place 1-7 June, and we’d like to take a moment to celebrate volunteers at the University of Edinburgh.

There are thousands of staff and students across the University who give their time to others.

One example is Pawel Orzechowski in the Business School, who worked with the Data Kirk to create a programme of digital and data learning, reaching families facing digital exclusion. Pawel’s energy and enthusiasm was contagious and his students got involved too. His efforts were recognised in this year’s Sustainability Awards where he was Highly Commended

Find out how to get involved with Volunteers’ Week on their website, or check out our Volunteering webpages for staff.

Have you used your Day to Make a Difference?

Staff at the University of Edinburgh are entitled to one day’s paid leave per year for volunteering activities. There’s still six months left to use your Day to Make a Difference and record it on People and Money. Use our handy checklist to use your volunteering day.

Win a voucher!

Maximise your volunteering by telling us and telling others! Share your volunteering story with us and receive £25 to spend on local businesses. Email local@ed.ac.uk  to share your story and be in with a chance to win.

Why not call on others to use their day and add this to your email signature: “I’ve used my Day to Make a Difference in 2021! Have you?”

Do you know someone who has volunteered?

Nominations are now open for the Inspiring Volunteers Award 2021. This year more than ever, we understand the importance of volunteering and being part of your local community. Take a moment to give someone the recognition they deserve this Volunteers’ Week.
