University opens its doors to the public

The University is encouraging public access to firm architectural favourites, like McEwan Hall and Old College, and recommending visitors explore other hidden gems like the Informatics Forum and Anatomical Museum.

The public can also get a first-hand view of the cutting-edge scientific research undertaken by the University researchers at King’s Buildings and the MRC Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine at the Western General.

For those more interested in the University’s cultural contributions to civic life, both the Talbot Rice Gallery and St Cecilia’s Hall (home to the University’s world class collection of musical instruments) will be open for viewing.

With a history stretching back to 1583 and an estate which includes many old, converted, listed and contemporary buildings, there is a wide selection of venues on show for our Doors Open Day visitors.
