University lights up the Southside

On Tuesday 4 December, Moira Gibson, the recently retired Head of External Affairs at the University of Edinburgh, was invited by the Southside Association to switch on the lights at St Patrick Square as part of their Carol Service and Festive Lights Ceremony.

Attendees at the Christmas switch-on were also kept entertained by the University’s Music Society Brass Band & Choir and the Preston Street Primary School Choir, with the service led by Rev Dr Liam Fraser, Church of Scotland Campus Minister at the University.

During her time at Edinburgh, Moira had been the driving force behind the launch of the University’s Community Engagement Strategy in 2017, including Edinburgh Local and the Community Grants Scheme.

In her role as Head of External Affairs with the University of Edinburgh Moira was an excellent point of contact. The helpful and constructive liaison between our two organisations cannot be underestimated.
